A must read book for football fans. A biography of the scientist who discovered the devastating brain injury caused by playing football. The author does an excellent job of telling the story of the science of forensic neuropathology. Also, the critique of the NFL industry to protect its image is detailed. Adding the family stories of some of the athletes helps the reader to empathize with the pain and suffering of the modern day gladiators and the price of fame for the family. A warning to football fans--If you read this book you will never watch another game with the same enjoyment or enthusiasm because of the price being paid by athletes.
