Excellent historical review of the exploitation and abuse of African Americans by health care providers and institutions. Detailed documentation of historical facts : surgery on slaves without anesthesia or pain medication, grave robbery for cadavers, prisoner experiments, usurpation of ethics and informed consent, etc. Highly recommended as part of the cultural competency education of any health care provider.
