Review: The Wealth of Nations

The Wealth of Nations The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Book 5/5--Overview of the role of the state in administering justice, maintaining infrastructure, and supporting education. Also comments about taxation, the need for a progressive tax, and a warning regarding the use of tax havens by the wealthy

Librivox audio book final review: It is interesting that Smith highlighted in this text many of the ethical problems that affect capitalistic economies to this day. At times the five books delves into deep details of the 17th century British economy. However, a very patient reader will gain insight into the weaknesses of a capitalist economy and how good governance and ethical administration can counterbalance the potential for greed, monopoly, and cheating.
