Review: Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing

Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing by Joy DeGruy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A psychological and cultural anthropological evaluation of the African American experience and how the culture endures and thrives against the destructive forces of racism. The historical analysis of the forces survived by African American family is very interesting. The book also gives examples and warnings on the psychological internalization of destructive racist devaluation of the self. It also gives tools to help overcome and thrive against racism. A good book to reflect on personal and community behaviors that impede and ensure success in America.
