Well written and thought provoking book that, through the characters, reveals the complexity of the ideal and reality of marital relationships. This is a good book for a book club to discuss marriage and its challenges. There is hidden wisdom in the dramas faced by the characters for both young and old readers. Likewise, Tolstoy writes an interesting meditation on the meaning of life and attaining happiness near the end of the book.
