My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A very provocative book when it was published in 1939. Using the horror and tragedy of a brutal crime, the author argues that the brutality of segregation and racism are as equally horrid. The use of the case arguments of the prosecuting and defense attorneys is a creative way to develop a deep conversation with the reader regarding the issues of the case and society.
The writing style is also dramatic and very detailed which gives the book an added realism. It would not be hyperbole to substitute the problem of inadequate education in the 21st century and its creation of more Bigger Thomas personalities
