Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism Algorithms of Oppression: How Search Engines Reinforce Racism by Safiya Umoja Noble
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Can search engines damage communities?

Like the canary in the coal mine, the value of this book is its warning of how unverified information can damage a democracy and vulnerable peoples. Written from the viewpoint of black feminist and critical race theory perspective, the author skillfully explains the science of computer algorithms and its dangers when implemented without cultural / historical perspectives.
